Radio is Good? ... Sometimes...

While I was working on my carpal tunnel - I mean data input today I was listening to good old iTunes radio. I was on the illest (yeah I don't know if I can get away with it but I'm just gonna go ahead and try - wut up 'Sauga Crew!) station. It was playing some golden tunes that I hadn't heard in a while ... some examples you ask? Why of course dahling...
Pass the Dutchie, Fade Into You - Mazzy Star and Follow You Down - Gin Blossoms. I know crazy random songs of the 80s and 90s --> how I adore you.

Anyways ... As I was downloading these songs I had one of those {woah} moments. You know, example: {woah}, Steve Winwood made some killer music in the 80s (hello!: 'Valerie' and 'Higher Love'). Well this {woah} moment was like: WOAH - remember when Billy Talent was cool? And I loved their music .... and I bought their CD .... yeah.... (end of {woah} moment). I do have to say that their first album still holds up for me - it's quite good actually upon further thought ... unlike my S Club 7 CD...but let's not go there.
Listen to River Below (for old 'highschool' times sake - I know Try Honesty, The Ex, were possibly bigger hit singles but this song is soooo goood)

The Teacup Incident

Unlike myself, already working and getting ready to finish my first full week of summer 'vacay', my friend and fellow blogette, Ivana is still studying for two final exams (yeah UofT will do that to you). As I was complaining about how she's abandoned me in Oakville, and she about how tedious studying the French language can be - she came up with this solution: blog. "But what about?!" I asked. I'm not blogged out per se, I've just not been up to anything too interesting these past couple of days - just eat, work, sleep. I decided to think of a random topic and then wikiresearch it and write an informative post (FIRST EVER) on that topic. I typed 'Teacup' into my google toolbar just as Ivana msn-ed me back with the topic of her own next blog post - "china cups". This is when I started getting chills - we had been thinking about the same thing! IMAGINE WHAT THAT MEANS! It was like a Vulcan Mind Meld without the physical contact (unfortunately ;D). I've taken this incident, which will hearby be known as The Teacup Incident, very seriously. I've also decided that teacupping will now enter into my vocabulary as an interchangeable term for Vulcan mind-melding (Hey! I'm working on Goalatude #8 without even realizing it! well ... now I guess I've realized it). So, now I've blogged about Teacups without actually blogging about tea cups. God works in mysterious ways...

For Dorcas

Lady Gaga sings Viva La Vida a la piano. That is all. (I know Dorcas appreciates this kind of stuff just as much as I do)

Actually not ALL ... Finally Gaga is releasing Paparazzi as a single - FINALLY! I have spent 9 patient months wishing and waiting for her to get on that and FINALLY she will deliver. While we are, I'm sure, all anxiously awaiting that video please enjoy this amazing piano version (have I mentioned how totally in love with her musicality I am!?!)

Goalatudes: (Re)Learn Conversational French

Okay so Goalatude #3 is going to be exceptionally hard because it requires a great deal of will power and good attention skills - both of which I lack even on a good day. Luckily, along with my podcasts I've rediscovered TELEFRANCRAIS! If you have no idea what i'm talking about ...gasp!... Sorry, then you just haven't lived until now. Telefrancais is a Canadian television show that originally aired on TVO from 1984-86. It sought to teach kids a little bit of French. I had the pleasure of watching this in my grade 4 and 5 French classes. I remember Ananas looking a little less strung out when I was 9 but whateves it's all good. Below is a clip from an episode where the two human children: Sophie and Jaques (who just happened to have befriended the pineapple in a junkyard...), practice for a spelling championship with Ananas as their trainer =D. But let's be honest the thing we all most looked forward to each time my French teacher fired up the old VCR for a Téléfrançais episode, was the theme song! You know - or will - what I mean when you see it. Almost as good as Under the Umbrella Tree or Today's Special (what's that? You don't know what Today's Special or Under the Umbrella Tree are? note to self: compose a post on UTUT and Today's Special in the very near future!) Anyway I figure when I get bored of listening to my French podcasts I'll just hop on over to youtube for some Téléfrançais and that will be that...

I have a distinct memory of watching an episode where the character Pilote delivers pizzas by plane ... just thought i'd share that.

School's Out - Fun's In...

... so read the icing of a chocolate cake my stepmom made when she was a teenager. I know this because I've seen the picture of her holding it and it is amazing. Saturday I had my last exam and it went okay... and I just turned on my computer to find an email from my T.A. in Greek Archeology with my mark and explanation on my paper ... Groan ... But that is the only part of this post that will be devoted to school work ... now for the fun stuff. Went out Saturday night to party it up End-Of-Year style. Got a few more bumps and bruises then I bargained for. I know the bruise on my leg is from walking into a part of a building in downtown Kingston, but I just discovered a little cut above my right eye for which I have no explanation of its cause. Saturday was amazing because I got to see two real live fights. Well technically only 1 which went something like: lady hitting and running after a guy and i think screaming "Don't hate/touch my mother-in-law/stepmother" in the Pizza Pizza parking lot (the details are foggy). The second was inside the club we hit up and aparently 2 chicks got into it - But I kinda couldn't see that one properly. Gooooooood Times. Sunday I woke up waaay too early and continued frantic packing then grabbed brunch with my dad and drove (yes I drove - practice makes perfect for the G test) all the way back to Oakville. I then spent the rest of the day unpacking and organizing my room, which unfortunately I have to share with a messy younger sister. But everything is in order now and today I'm settling in, which means I'm thinking about all the things I want to accomplish this summer. Last summer is going to be pretty hard to beat as it was my most productive and possibly most fun to date. I had 2 jobs (1 full time), took and Aced a summer course, roadtripped with the fam. to Maine, roadtripped to Barrie (okay admittedly less glamourous a destination) for the Spectacular in everywayshapeandform Jack Johnson Concert and touristed it up in Kingston: visiting the Penn museum and embarking on the Haunted Walk of Kingston - for reals that town is crowded with spectres (just felt like using that word ... got a problem with it? wanna fight? just joshing).

This summer however I'll be luck y to find 1 job, let alone 2, and I'm defo not taking a summer course (that shiz is BELOW me now - not really there's just nothing else I can take at an appropriate level). As for concerts - I just checked Ticketmaster --> Kenny Chesney and Jonas Bros--> Ummm yeah that's a dallop (what? it's a word if we want it to be, right Dorcas?) of "Not in this lifetime" with a side of "When Hell freezes Over" respectively for me thanks ... Hold the purity ring (gift with purchase). Instead of that traditionally fun stuff, I thought I'd make a list (I loooove my lists) of things that I wanted to accomplish/do this summer...so, in what is sure to be the first of many drafts, here is the fabulous, the combobulated (once again folks, a word if I WANT it to be), the magnifique ...

CAITIE'S SUMMER GOALATUDES (I just like the sound of that):

1) Meet someone named Gregor .... perferrably THE Gregor from CBCs Wiretap (but I'm not picky - if this was last summer maybe, but this summer I gotta take what I can get)

2) Read 71/2 books. (7 is my favourite number after eleventy four and also seems a reasonable goal. the 1/2 is there in case I start a book only to find that I have a wickedbad case of the hates for it)

3) Actually listen and engage in some of the gazillion 'Learn French By Podcast' episodes that automatically dowload onto my pod. (When I first subscribed I was so into it and then I listened to a couple of lessons and peaced because it was too easy... now I've reconsidered ... yeah I basically get schooled by my entire family in the department de francais so I got get proactive before their next attack.

4) Get outside. (Even though I was superproductive last summer I remained unforgiveably pale because I was so busy studying or working to enjoy the sun)

5) Catch up on my National Geographic Magazines.

6) Save Money. (gawd this is like the worst entry on this list. Boo to you part of the brain that fuels practicality, reason, and good judgement... Boo. to. you.)

7) Find a craft and do it awesomely. (Not even just a craft, maybe add to my scrapbook, or paint, or buy [uhoh I can already see goalatude #6 flying out the window and and being torn apart by a pack of hungry "I want. I Want. I WANTS!!!"] one of those big boxes of crayola crayons [you know the one with the sharpener at the back - does that even realy work?]and drawing things) ... (are you sick of all my thought-tangent parentheses yet? I am [a little bit] but not enough to stop =P)

8) Expand Vocabulary. Ridonculous, Awesome, Rad, are all ... awesome (ah!) I mean delightful (phew!) words and some of my favourites to use in conversation on-the-daily, but I really need to punch it up (where is that phrase from?) and start using some seriously BA vobulary... also: should defo try using full words ... nah it's so much more fun to routinely shorten words in a way that will leave at least one person in a group conversation completely clueless =D. 2nd part of this goal is to continue trying to reintroduce the catchword "Boss" into current slang/lingo. I have been working at this since grade 11 - thats a 5 year stretch of casually slipping it into coversation and then patiently explainign when people don't know what it means. I was, I think, somewhat successful at helping bring back "Bitchin", popularizing "Ridonculous" and effectively killing "Jerkface" back in the day, so I think I might have a chance with this one.

9) Listen to More of my CDs. (I love my Pod and cann't imagine living without it, but I still buy CDS because I like listening to the full things the way the band wanted them to be listened to. That being said, for convenience sake I often just use my pod to play music. NOT this summer. While there are thousands of songs that I only have in mp3 format, I also have a sizeable collection of CDs. First on my list to listen to ... hmm: perhap Miracle Fortress and then Mattew Good Band)

10) Open ... Haven't decided but I know I'll think of something to put here...

Wow that is one boss list. I know that with a little hard work, a lot of self-encouragement and a healthy dose of "believing in myself" this list of Goalatudes with surely be complete by summer's end. for reals.

Now listen to I Want You by Kings of Leon. I FINALLY bought their newest album and popped in my car's cd player it is more wonderful than I could have possibly imagined. I actually LOVE every single song - there are NO fillers - just feels so hot and dirty and summery and ... like a real rock album... also, PLEASE check out their old stuff (some of my favourites: Soft, Knocked Up, Fans, Talihina Sky) because it is likewise rifrickendiculously boss.

Misc: Exams and Mantracker

In 1 hour and 30 minutes I will be sitting down to write my second last exam of 3rd year - exciting stuff, I know. Not nearly as exciting as having to come back home and study for my final exam of the year ... no, that in itself is just too exciting for words....barf. I've neglected my blog a little this week because I've been studying and also been lounging about in a nonproductive manner for the rest of the time. I am definitely in an exam funk and I can't seem to pry myself free... I've even stopped listening to music really up until today ... I've just been blahhh. What I have done though, is watch copious amounts of television ... more specifically: Planet Earth (always enjoyable) and as of Tuesday I am now addicted to MANTRACKER:

Basically this is the most intense reality show I watch next to Hell's Kitchen and I LOVES it. two prey are thrown out into the Canadian wilderness and given a bit of a headstart, but Mantracker (an Albertan cowboy ... a real live cowboy!) is sooooo BA and is always just a few paces behind them. My favourite description of a prey so far is "Maverick Chicken Farmer" .... enough said.

What I'm Listening to: Touch Me I'm Going to Scream Pt. 2 by My Morning Jacket : it's a little slow to start but give it some time ....

Waterfront Walk Ep. 2

To break up the monotonousness (if that's not a word it should be) of studying for exams I like to get out and get fresh air when the weather the is nice. so this afternoon after finishing writing my review sheets for my early Greek archeology exam tomorrow, Calvin and I went for a walkaroo down by the water ... this time I brought my proper camera.

Calvin practiced balancing ... with some difficulty (facial expression is PRICELESS) We both practiced our nautical skills. Clearly Calvin has never driven a boat before, as evidenced by him hanging off the stearing wheel. I on the other hand am (or was) a licensed pleasure craft operator (caitie's 12yr old boy self says: that sounds really dirrrty tee-hee) so I handled the wheel like a pro. Calvin's shadow points to a duck ... Calvin is nowhere to be found ........Calvin investigates a pipe that looks like a remodeled version of those in Super Mario ... NES era .... god I miss that console.I try (again) to take a decent picture of some of the wind turbines of Wolfe Island. fail (again).I take a photo of what I think is the Queen's Rugby field ... end up taking a photo of the bleachers on its perimeter.Am drawn to the graffiti on the wall of Theological hall that reads: TRON (isn't this a 1980s film that I have never seen and never will? Thought so.)Token Summerhill shot, only this time I took it of the ugly part of the building ... dare to be different. Calvin calls the tricolour flag ugly ... I defend it until, just when I'm about to take an upclose shot of it, it stops blowing in the wind ... now I'm not so sure about the tricolour flag myself.Postcard shot of Biosci ... if people bought postcards of science lab buildings.

Calvin snoops through our downstairs neighbours' mailbox ... finds exactly what he was looking for: a Lancome flyer...

Filler

Experiencing lovely weather in the southern Ontario region - but of course I'm stuck inside "studying" and unfortunately do tax related stuff *vomitrotious* (was watching an old episode of Arthur this morning - rad). Anyway - it's been a couple of days since my last post so I thought I'd pay my blog a little attention ... This is a picture of a bedroom that i like ... mostly like the bike though. Unfortunately I don't really have anything else to write about ... except maybe... okay, so months ago I watched an old episode of Ponderland with Russell Brand in which he said that the 'screen saver' for his brain was this jingle from an old commercial. Well since then I've been semi-paying attention to what my very own brain screen saver might be ... hard to do since this "screen-saver" pops up when I am not actually thinking ... and then of course I forget what it was that was filling my brain for that period of time ... In any case I'm pretty positive that I don't have one standard song or 'thing' that pops into my head ... I think it must change pretty regularly...I have to admit though lately if I'm not doing anything or thinking of anything in particular I can usually count on one song to randomly start humming ... 1) Guilty of Love by Mylo ... I don't know why but that's what starts playing ... yeah so that was a waste of a post ... back to Early Greek Archeology ...

What I'm Listening To: Don't Trust Me by 3Oh!3. Dorcas and I were driving back to Kingston yesterday and cruising to the sounds of my ipod and this song came on. I instantly liked the song when I first heard it (can't remember where), but now I LOVE it! It's so fun and the lyrics, while offensive, are funny. Totally going on my Summer Mixtape #1.

Refusing, Poets Against the War

Sometimes when I need a break from studying I try to do something that is, I think, equally as productive - reading for pleasure. One of the things I've been reading lately is poetry... I am not a fan of poetry in general, but after falling in love with the poetry of William Blake during my Romantics course last year I thought I'd give it a try ... some poetry is absolutely terrible, but some is worth reading over and over again ... one of my new favourite places to find poetry is Poets Against the War. Founded by Sam Hamill, the site is a collective of politically minded poets and their work, "Poets Against War continues the tradition of socially engaged poetry by creating venues for poetry as a voice against war, tyranny and oppression." Below is one poem that caught my eye, there are thousands of poems on the site ... something for everyone who wants to hate on war I guess =D

by Gregory Orr

Refusing the invitation
I was not given,
being given instead
the invitation to refuse.
Which I accept.
Am grateful for.
The chance to be part of
the poet's chorus,
the caucus of those
whose politics
is obvious and earnest.
Whose wishes are simple:
sensible diplomacy,
everything to be negotiated.
Tough bargaining,
but easy on the violence.
That's what we poets
learned from poems:
it's all on the table,
but it's stupid
to break up the table
with an axe,
to splinter the chairs.

And it's madness
to ask poets to celebrate,
when people can't even
breathe deeply
for fear of war's imminence.

Here's another collective .... Animal Collective to be precise with My Girls. Okay so story behind this is that one day I was channel surfing and came across the video for this song on Much Music. I had missed the title and band but both Dorcas and I were so mesmerized by the trippy video that we had to watch the entire thing so that we could find out at the end who it was ... I'm still not sold on Animal Collective, however - this song is meh ... maybe their stuff will grow on me, maybe it won't ... + click on the picture ... this album cover is pretty trippy....

Desired Study Spaces

I'm in the thick of exam studying so I've been setting up each day in the same place - at my desk in my room and wishing I was somewhere else. Somewhere with a little more light and a little more space. Here are a couple of the areas I'm dreaming of ...

I am all about natural light, especially when studying so this nook with the sky light is like my dream come true. I also love the pattern of the wallpaper.
Once again love the natural light and also the view of greenery from this study space ...

I like that this small home office has so many different seating options: you can sit at the desk, lounge on the sofa or curl up on the chair.

Something Old is New Again

Okay, so recently a couple of truly awful songs have been released and now play in semi-heavy rotation on Much and Much More Music and it got me to thinking about things that come into prominence again after some time out of the limelight ... mainly songs.

The BAD kind: Without flying too far off the handle into the dark parts of my personality (an occurence that has been iduced by these songs before) I'll mention them and why they are whoreable. First is Right Round by Florida (yeah I am not going to mispronounce a state name for the likes of you sir). Basically everything about this song is terrible ... the vocals are pitchy and unbearable, the video is a rotating buffet of crap and it sucks the fun and goodtimes vibe of the original 80s new wave classic by Dead or Alive and replaces it with low rate, sexist garbage that effectively sums up everything that is wrong with 'hip hop' music these days. Second is Karl Wolf's Africa or should I say Toto's Africa, butchered and served at a dirty roadside burger joint with a topping of pretentiousness and a side of douchery. The video for this song is -if possible - worse than the song itself. It begins with a Microsoft Movie Maker title then quickly tries to prove Karl Wolf-my-cookies is rich by the presence of a butler ... only the butler is holding an umbrella that looks suspiciously like something you'd pick up at a dollarama ... lame. So that is the BAD kinda of old becoming new again. I just hope the teenagers hopelessly download these songs off itunes as evidenced by their top 10 list, had the decency and good graces to realize these both pale in comparison to their orignal counterparts.

The GOOD kind: as I mentioned in the previous post, I saw Monsters vs. Aliens today and there was a bucket load of good trailers - one of which was for Spike Jonze's adaptation of Where the Wild Things Are. The trailer features a song off the Arcade Fire's 2004 album Funeral called Wake Up (click it <--). I bought this album a couple years ago along with their more recent venture Neon Bible. Both albums are amazing (even though I was admittedly reluctant to believe the Hype about this band ... i finally gave in and suggest everyone else do the same). Anyway ... I hadn't listened to Wake Up in a criminally long while, probably because Rebellion (Lies), Crown of Love, and Neighbourhood #3 (Power Out) are the only song titles I can name off the top of my head from that album. But this Trailer brought all the glory of the song back fresh into my head and I've been listening to it happily, along with the rest of the Arcade Fire's songs all day!
...
My only hang-up with Arcade Fire is the fact that they have so many members ... you know where you're like well, seriously ALL of you guys NEED to be there? ... Really? You sure we don't just have a Chumbawamba situation where 2 people sing, one guy plays a trumpet at key points and the rest of you just flail around onstage for the duration of the song? ... okay okay - just checking.

MONSTERS VS. ALIENS VS. ME ... a film review

I just got back from watching MONSTERS vs ALIENS in 3D!!! I have never watched a film in 3D, but as soon as the ticket guy handed me the awesome 3d glasses I got all giddy and excited. My sister and I got excellent seats (there was some initial trepidation on my part because there was two little girls behind us, but pretty much there were two little girls/kids behind every seat in the theatre so it didn't make a difference). In fact, although I usually despise kids at theatres, this time I felt like I was one of them - I gasped just as loud as the 6 year olds when the first 3D images popped out of the screen (though I didn't try and catch all of them like the boy in front of us). The movie itself was so cute and clever and one of the first movies in a long time that left me feeling glad I spent $$$mula$$$ to see it in theatre. Bob was so adorable and the animation was really enjoyable to watch ... and there were so many celebrities doing the voices and I couldn't quite place them all but I defo imdb-ed that up afterward. Also - the previews were pretty decent too. I am a bit of a closetted trekkie ... I've many of the Star Trek's (Voyager - religiously, Deep Space Nine - bored afternoons after school, Next Generation - !!! all the time) but I've never watched a single episode of the original series .... so when I first heard about the Star Trek movie I didn't explode with excited ... but each time I've gone to the theatre recently I've seen a trailer for it and I just get soooooooo excited, the music, SPOCK! omg I'm getting excited now just thinking about it. my blooger (typo but i am keeping it) still won't let me post videos but here is a link to the theatrical trailer if you are at all interested .... you are, don't lie....
oh and P.S. Simon Pegg is in it!!! Yay! the world is awesome ...

What I'm Listening to: Last Nite (cover) by Adele (click the picture dahling)
I heard this cover at least a year ago but totally forgot about it until recently and thought I'd share it. The Strokes are one of my favourite bands - way back in 2003 I fell in LOVE with them and although the quality of their music has suffered (First Impressions of Earth? Howabout first impressions of my fist into the metaphorical face of the song Juicebox?!) still I adore them no matter how 2001/4 they are! So, the fact that Adele (LOVES) did a cover of one of their first singles is amazing... almost as amazing as her cover of the Raconteurs' Many Shades of Black. well done! Here is the original by the Strokes ... just for old time sake!
ALSO, I mean, why not? Here is a link to Right as Rain just because it is so happy and I love it! Okay, no more Adele for a while now kiddies.

Symmetrical Chair Set-Up

I La-La-Love these chairs and the white, WHITE wall behind them and the amazing (almost) Symmetry of this picture! where do I get those chairs though seriously...
(t a n g e n t a l e r t: When I typed la-la-love all of a sudded that fricken Untouched song by the Veronicas pounced into my brain ... you know that really annoying trying-too-hard to be sexy breathy la la la la lalalalaaaa! yeaaaaah you know it. thumbs down Veronicas ... THUMBS DOWN! t a n g e n t o v e r)

It's International CHOCOLATE Day! aka Easter!

Being that it is Easter Sunday I thought I'd tell you a little story about Chocolate ... my housemate Calvin I guess bought some Dove chocolates. Inside the foil wrapping of every chocolate is a little saying (kind of like a fortune cookie). Only these sayings don't predict any sort of future, they have little phrases like, "Sleep on high thread-count sheets". Well, I could tell Calvin was going to have some trouble with theses chocolates from the get go when he read his first wrapper as "Lump on the bed" instead of what it actually said: "Jump on the bed". So when he started opening wrappers that were clearly meant for women I had to laugh ... "Wearing a Push-Up Bra isn't cheating" and "Match your underwear" These caused Calvin to maybe have a bit of an adverse reaction to the actual chocolate product initially, but in the end he embraced it. So too have many people I guess since when I googled Dove chocolate, there were as many pictures of wrappers as the choclate themselves...
Also .. If you want to create your very own personalized message to be wrapped around chocolate, ripped open and then thrown away .... well you most definitely CAN! click here and Dove should totally pay me for the referrals.... just saying

Fire...Foxy

Last night I was bored out of my skull and looking to do anything other than work, so naturally I clicked open a new internet browser window and typed in "cute mammals". slowly but surely my search become more direct and defined, "cute puppies", "cute border terrier puppies" etc. somehow I ended up typing in "panda" and then eventually "red panda" and one of the results of the search was these pictures of the cutest little dog with a dyed mane. I don't know why or how but it is sooo cute. Anyway I squeeled and Calvin, who was trying to study was like "What now?...." When he saw the pictures he said "looks like a... Firefox" which funnily enough is exactly what the dog was intended to look like - THe Mozilla Firefox logo.... So really the point of this post was to share these cutre pictures ... not because there is any great story to them ... I should probably go and read The Persians by Aeschylus now, as I've been intending to do for the past 1 1/2 hours.

Tabatha Coffey Would Be Impressed

Today I finally gave in and got my hair cut. It's been 3 months since my last cut. i've had a hard time with getting my haircut for the past couple years. I had been going to the same hairdresser for years in Kleinburg (I know ... w(where)tf is that), but when my mum moved I didn't have a car to get there anymore and it was really far so I kind of jumped around salons ... even sinking so low as Magic Cuts (I don't want to talk about it.) Anyway ... I finally sucked it up and decided to get a cut here in Kingston at James Brett. JB is one of those semi-pretentious Aveda salons where everything is black and expensive. My only other experience at an Aveda salon was back in 2007 in Oakville. My mum had booked an appointment and I guess hadn't specified what kind of stylist so I got the most expensive kind and then the cut was not great and I hadn't brought enough cash (didn't have a credit card at that point ...) to tip the way I usually would. So i ended up giving a meager tip and then fleeing to my mum's expensive car right in front of the salon so I'm sure they saw and thought I was just being cheap... how embarrassing. Anyway ... TODAY was totally different and wonderful. I got the best scalp massage ever and then (GASP!) my stylist dry-cut may hair. I immediately thought back to an episode of Salon Takeover with Tabatha Coffey, where she brought a bunch of salon stylists to see a guy cut hair dry and refered to it as a sculpture. Anyway - My hair is so much better now and I loves it - oh bangs it's been a while!

Vanilla Aztecs or end of year shananigans

So this past weekend was basically a total write off in terms of getting any actual studying done. Friday was the last day of winter semester and obviously time to party. I went over to a friend's home played some 'card' games then stumbled around their darkened home tied to Angie (3-legged-race-style) using a flashlight to find easter eggs. I think our total find count was 2 ... I personally found 0 ... but i did get a wickedbad sliver. We then proceeded to march (read: stumble) towards Alfie's in the rain and waited to get in for long enough that my hair frizzed up and we lost one member of our party. all in all a good night. Saturday I spent sprawled on the couch until evening when Dorcas and I finally went out and saw I Love You, Man (kiani please forgive me). The movie was stellar (JOBIN!) and I couldn't stop laughing - would definitely recommend. Sunday I bummed around downtown and bought some nail polish and a pillow from Urban Outfitters (I'll admit I find the store super pretentious and totally self-conscious of their own trendiness - but I DO like their knick knacks and whatchamacallits). and finally last night Calvin, Dorcas, and I pretended to be really cool by celebrating the end of the semester with an Aztec Vanilla Cigar. I, of course had to be the man and take the first 'drag' (as Dorcas was appropriately calling it =D) and it was fun and games from there.

What I'm listening to: I love the 80s. i was born in the 80s, but I wish more than anything I was a teenager in the 80s - It was AWESOME! So when I heard the first two singles a little while back off of The Killers' new album Day and Age I was sooo excited. I'm not a huge Killers fan - I really didn't like their first album, Sam's Town was decent, but I can already tell I am going to love Day and Age. Spaceman is my favourite song of the moment. I always watch the video when it comes on MMM and enjoy it a little more each time. Now I am as much a music snob as the next person and the Killers are defo mainstream to the max - but I also realize that life is too short to deny the joy that comes from a super catchy pop rock song from playing on my pod. And the Killers actually make some good music... so they can stay. Here is Spaceman by The Killers (click the picture) ... try not to roll your eyes and just enjoy!
