Pearl & Frankie
Haughty Hallowe'en Special
Episode 4: It's Hallowe'en. Pearl and Frankie discuss their plans for the evening, without each other ...

Pearl: So Frankie, what are your Halloween plans this year?
Frankie: I'm having people over tonight for drinks and board games ...
Pearl: Ha. Bored games - you're right - That's a good adjective to describe your parties. *smug face*
Frankie: You are so condescending .... Oh. Em. Gee. I can't believe I almost left "She Wolf" off my playlist! Where is my head at?!
Pearl: ... So anyway, who is on the guest list?
Frankie: Just some friends and some plus ones.
Pearl: My invite must have been lost in the mail ... or if you sent out an evite it most have been lost in virtual space.... I'm too busy to come anyway.
Frankie: Really? What are you upto?
Pearl: ... Well, my Halloween party will be in a cubicle at the UTM library ... I might dress up.
Frankie: What as?
Pearl: I can't decide ... Leonardo CoHen or High on Dye (Hyundai) .... thoughts?
Frankie: Maybe you should just go as a tool box. Just slap a "Hi My Name Is Pearl" sticker on your shirt and you're good to go ...
Pearl: .....
Frankie: .... ZING!

My Pantry is Empty

I have no food to eat. Okay so that is not entirely true, but I have no food of the kind that I want to eat. I definitely need to hit up my favourite store, besides Shopper's, that would be Loblaws. In the meantime, Let me dream a little dream of this darling dining room. I like the wallpaper in this room .... and everything else. I wish I had woken up this morning, sauntered into this room and devoured a breakfast of crepes ... I know - fanciful.

Dry Hands and Tantrums.

I saw this picture and first thought: Adorable! I didn't think Duffy could be any cuter - but I was wrong. My second thought was of my fellow blogette who, without fail, would throw a tantrum each time she got into my car this summer and there was no hand cream. I'm not running some sort of luxurious limo service woman. Anyway she is a lover of Nivea cream and seeing this made me think of her tub of the stuff and dry hands =D Happy Friday.

Bustin' Makes Me Feel Good!

oh em gee. I am super excited for Hallowe'en! Today I had no class, and as a result I was twiddling my thumbs and finding any excuse to avoid school work. And so I ended up hitting up James Brett for a bangs trim (impulsiveness + bangs = questionable results) and the Dollarama to find some Hallow e'en decor. I was a little disappointed with their selection though - they didn't even have streamers or fake cobwebs...- the eff?!?? Anyway, I ended buying a giant skelly bones (which I obviously put in the "Burt Reynolds Naked Man" pose), a fake bloody handprint and some orange an black balloons - will have to do. My mum's good at sending me Hallow e'en care packages so I've accumulated some decorations which will fill the gaps. And then there's this:

Miylor Swyrus

I feel like this chick is a combination of Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift - no disrespect to T.Swift.

Grey All Around

It's very grey out today. It looks like it is permanently 5 in the evening. Odd.

I think I would enjoy it more if I lived in a place that looked like this <--

In other news, The heat has finally been turned on by my downstairs neighbours - maybe I won't wake up with a cold nose tomorrow. One can only hope.

Also - have been listening to Chauffeur "Soles of fire"

I know, it is so commercial (literally, it is about Gucci shoes) and so .... rap. But it is also so Mark Ronson, so I obviously adore it.

I Effing Told You So ....

Man oh Man. So I've sort of recovered from one of my most humiliating class moments ever (to sum it up: yesterday, involved Chaucer and a red face) and I thought I'd blog! I've been just killing time on the internet since last night and stumbled across This:

I hate (read:love) to say I Told You So, but .... I EFFING TOLD YOU SO!!! click me for proof
okay so I'm a little behind American Apparel, but not really because they haven't caught on yet as far as I can tell - one can only wait - and wait I will....

Pop Electro Opera

November 28, ACC - I IZ GOING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Says Lady Gaga, "The Haus of Gaga had been designing 'The Monster Ball' for premiere in 2010 at the O2 Arena in London, but due to diligent work and preparation, 'The Monster Ball' will begin on November 27 in Montreal. 'The Monster Ball' is a multimedia artistic experience in the style of the first-ever 'pop electro opera.'"

OMG. So Excited.

lounging

just lounging around (I wish in the room above) trying to inspire myself to work and listening to Jian Ghomeshi interview Gossip (love the southern accents!) on Q. I so adore Beth Ditto - she so funny! Also, the music! Q's chosen to play Heavy Cross, but I have another remix version which I think is also super so here it is:

This gave me chills - the bad kind

If there is one thing that turns my stomach more than discrimination and hate - it is when d&h masquerades as morally upright religious beliefs and therefore an acceptable prejudice to support. How can people who have lived longer lives than myself still reason like confused and hateful children half my age? Blindly following an archaic "Religious" belief is not a sane reason to treat those with a different sexuality than one's self as less than human. For shame.

Highschool Confidential 2009

Last December I had way too much fun creating THESE. Well folks - Yearbook Yourself is back up and running with a whole new set of fun pictures to insert yourself into, so of course instead of studying, that is just what I did!

Julius, we need to talk.

AHHHH - my computer is driving me CARAZY. More so than usual even. On average I contemplate throwing my computer out the window or at the very least punching in the screen about 5-10 times a day. Today however I have been on the verge of technological destruction about twice as much and 10x more intensely. Firstly my computer, Julius or Jules for short, did its regular "I don't feel like loading that page, so deal" and "Shockwave don't work" dance right off the bat this morning. Then it proceeded to have what I can only describe as the laptop version of an epileptic fit in which all the items on my desktop disappeared then reappeared constantly until I finally shut the computer off completely and manually (I do this about 5 times a day). I downloaded a couple new songs to refresh my pod then hooked up 'podulus maximus'. I then had to manually disconnect my ipod because my computer had frozen AGAIN. I came back to my pod a little while ago and it is ENTIRELY empty - this is some Lovely-bones-shit. I have a feeling my computerknows I've been searching for a new laptop and has decided to go out with a bang. I was trying to print out cost summaries for new laptops the other day and my computer was all "Awww Hells NO! Not Like THIS!" .... I swear Jules knows. I wish I could be like the girl in the first picture - in control and master of my computer ... however I feel more like the chick below...Fun Quesyion of the Dat (yes i know there's a typo but I'm kinda in love with it):

How long did it take me to draft this nifty post?
(a) 10 minutes
(b) 15 minutes
(c) 10 minutes for writing - 45 minutes misc computer-taming (aka loading blogger, pictures, dealing with frozen browser etc.)

If you picked a or b - u iz stoopid.

What I've Learned Thus Far From ARTH 213

Tonight I have a 3 hour night class on Renaissance Art and I thought I'd share with you the sum of what I've learned thus far from a month's worth of Art History class:

People of the Renaissance had just as much attitude as those of the 21st century ... Examples?

Renaissance "Bitch, Please"
Simone Martini

Renaissance Side-eye
Giotto

Renaissance "Why don't you say that to MY FACE!?"
Simone Martini

Where the Cougars Are

When I saw the Headline: Where the Cougars Are in my september National Geographic (which I've just gotten a chance to read now at Thanksgiving) my brain first processed the word cougar as in a woman of a certain age or maturity who dates much younger men. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?! Also, what is wrong with the definition of Cougar on urban dictionary? I'm awful at spelling - this entry is criminal. For shame!

Why I Will Never Be An Actual Factual Restauranteur

In other news: I'm a little bit addicted to this game. Not as much as some, but enough to be a bit worried.

Cover Story

Part of me (most of me) wishes people would leave my beloved King's songs alone. No one can sing them as beautifully as the man who wrote them, but about .5% of me somewhat enjoys a fresh(ish) take on a song that has been way overplayed. This cover came out a little while back but I have just now been able to bring myself to listen to it. I kinda wish Cat Power would try it on.

I Heart Rocky and Balls

Oh my gosh, so delightful!

"Every morning I wake up, with lingering dreams of you and my heart is beguiled "

"You sent a message with three kisses
Could be wrong, but I think this is
Your way
To convey
That my love's not unrequited
But I won't get too excited
Since you're only virtually mine
I heart you online "

Also delightful? This pumpkin spice donut I'm devouring right. now.

HBC Olympic Wear

Today the new outfits for Canada's Olympians and anyone else who wishes to shell out for some good old national pridewear were revealed - *lacklustre sigh*. I've posted the only pieces so far which I would consider buying. At least they are better than those fugly shirts the Bay tried to unload on an unsuspecting Canadian public for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing - those were a travesty. Also, As I was perusing the shirts I noticed a design on one of the shirts that looked awfully familiar....

Seems I'm not the only one who thought this design was a little too reminiscent of a certain political party. But seriously kids - let's all try and get along - it IS the Olympics after all.
