Top 3 ... Favourite Food Websites.

It's 2:30 and I've yet to eat today. I woke up after breakfast then fumbled about for a time before I was whisked away to my sister's hockey game. A couple of errands done and now I'm home and it's 2:30 and I'm about as starving as I've ever been. I can smell lunch being made but until it get's in my belly it's torture. Not to mention the added torture I do unto myself by flicking midlessly through some of my favourite foodie websites. Join me won't you?

1) Food Porn Daily.

Top 3 ...Reasons to Buy Ed Hardy

Woo it has been a while, no? I had a bit of a hard time coming up with a Top 3 this time - nothing in particular has struck my fancy for some time now. But where there is a will, there is a way. Today's Top 3 is brought to you by my conscience. To elaborate: the otehr day I was in style sense, which has been under particular attack from goods by Ed Hardy, and I saw a little cardboard sign with the Ed Hardy logo - I wanted so badly to take it. It was in the clearance section unaccompanied by actual merchandise and didn't seem to be of any use so I thought - why can't I have it? But I didn't take it .... because of my conscience. Well that and the fact that my purse was too small to fit it discreetly.

And now:

TOP 3 Reasons to buy ED HARDY "things" - I say things because Monsieur Audigier has his greasy (well, not anymore thanks to Ed Hardy hand sanitizer) paws in every pot.

1) Celebrity Endorsers. one quick scan of the "celebrity" gallery on the Ed Hardy page let's you
know that D and D- listers alike, simplyadore wearing the uniform de la douche. Okay, so Madonna slipped in there for a quick minute, but let's be honest, Madge's fashion choices aren't exactly ruling the masses anymore nowadays ... okay okay honestly maybe there is something to this celebrity gallery I mean- if you wear Ed Hardy it's practically like you are best friends with any one of; Zac Ephron, Bill Clinton, Snoop Dogg, etc. ... except that Zac is wearing Ed Hardy for the movie 17 again in which he is mercilessly comparedto KFED and Snoop Dogg isnot wearing any Ed Hardy at all, but rather, has been accosted by Christian for the sole purpose of his website I'm sure.

2) Christian Audigier. This man has a balls to the walls fashion sense. He has umpteen million different lines that are all equally fug, and yet he just don't stop. I feel like he drinks red bull dips his face in coke (not the drink) then showers in liquid AXE before roamin whatever town he's travelling through looking for pseudo famouses to accost with his Canon Elph camera (in red/pink with rhiestones). Surprise: I. Love. It.

3) Cost Per Wear. My mom always told me to think about a clothing
purchase in terms of cost per wear. How much is the item? And how often can you really honestly see yourself wearing it? And so, my third reason to buy Ed Hardy is cost per wear, because we all know that an Ed Hardy top is something you can wear with anything, on any occasion, right? Example: You've just been invited to the movies! throw on you're Ed Hardy tshirt that reads: love/blah/tatoo - Not only will you create a mystique about yourself, but you will also scare off
annoying little children who might sit near you and ruin your movie with their "too young to know to be poilte" comments, i.e. "Mum. Mum. MOMMY! - why is that person wearing that rainbow bright sparkle shirt with the daggar?!"... Grandma's having a strawberry social? No biggie! Just throw on your rhinestone encrustedd growling tiger trucker cap (I am not going to lie - I made up that design ... then, because it's Ed Hardy, and they've already reached a level of tackiness my brain can neither create nor comprehend - they had actually made one). Every grandma lurvs a class act like that.

Top 3 ... Special Top 8 Ed. PEI Moments

Instead of taking my few faithful followers through my trip in excrutiating detail i thought I'd recall my holiday Top 3 style. Only, instead of Top 3, it's going to be more like Top 8 - Top 3's cool and dangerous older cousin.

Firstly, a little background info. My family and my Aunt and Uncle's family stayed at this cottage, Queen's Landing on the north shore of PEI at Seaview. We were right on the cliff by the water and it was gorgeous. Only a small red clay dirt road led to our place (a bit trecherous, especially after rain). We were only 20 minutes from Cavendish (tourist trap!) and an easy distance from Charlottetown and the Confederation Bridge - but I guess the whole island kinda is, right? We stayed there for a week making stops in Bathurst and Edmonston New Brunswick and my Uncle's farm in Lachute, Quebec during the 3 day (each way) car trip to and from.

____________________________________________

... and now for the list...
____________________________________________

1) Waking up to fresh, homemade tea biscuits with blueberry and homemade raspberry jam.

2) Telling stories to my sister and youner cousins – leaving them with cliffhangers each night before we all tucked into bed in our respective bunks, trundle and otherwise. *silly girls - anyone who knows me, will know that the mess of our room is not due to me

3) Having Anne Shirley brush past me on my way out of Province House (the birthplace of confederation!) then watching her pose up the street for pictures with Japanese tourists *okay, so the picture I got of her is a little where's waldoish because my brother kept walking in front just as I'd snap a photo - but I drew a red arrow to point her out

4) Playing volleyball, badminton, soccer, etc. on top of a cliff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

5) Singing/yelling along to the Ting Tings' That's Not My Name while driving through Charlottetown

6) Eating Brit-style Fish and chips, fresh caught mackerel, homemade seafood chowder, home cooked Lobster (at least I tried that one). *notice my father's worried expression ...*

7) Organizing my younger siblings and cousins to prepare a grand feast for the parents with great success.

8) Beaching the day away, all while avoiding the many different sized jellyfish aka. Medusas!.

Honourable Mentions:

My uncle tricking just about everyone into listening to the hollowed out shell of a Lobster head ... he it sounded like an ocean, just like shells. It was LIES and we all fell for it...

Approaching this burst water drain thing in the middle of a street in Charlottetown and the group of us being confused ... "is that a fountain!? ... or maybe that's not supposed to be like that .... can I still throw a penny and make a wish?"

Worst Moment:
Well moments - the excrutiatingly long 3 day long car trip both ways. Coming home was worse because at the end of a week in paradise all I wanted to do was get home and organized - not chill in the car or a chalet in New Brunswick ...
The picture below is me (and my bike!) peeking my head 'round the back of the car outside our hotel room at the end of our second day on the road to P.E.I - still smiling .... not for long

What I was listening to on Holiday:
in the car ...
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars - David Bowie
Fear of Music - Talking Heads
Day and Age - The Killers
Challengers - The New Pornographers
on the pod ...
I discovered Strange Overtones by David Byrne and Brian Eno and I LOVES it! I might even buy their album Everything That Happens Will Happen Today, listen below:

Top 3 ... Favourite Chick Flicks!

Oh chick flicks. Best. Movies. Ever. I was reading a couple of review highlights for The Ugly Truth and it got me thinking ... so this movie is supposed to be terrible and most of the chick flicks I've seen lately are terrible, but what are my favourites? I watch a lot of movies so the task of selecting just 3 for my list will be a challenge, but I'll narrow it down to recent (80s-today) and strict chickflick: no "action", no "mystery" just good old fashion lurvvvv: here goes... in no particular order:

1) How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
Why?
I don't care what the haters say, Kate Hudson is somuchfun to watch on screen in her cutesy roles and
this one is a delight! It has an utterly preposterous setup in which two people are thrust together on a bet, but it is hilarious and the close are nice!

2) Pretty Woman
Why?
Youngish Richard Gere, toothy Julia Roberts, scene with Roxette's Must Have Been Love playing while the heroine rides away in a limo - fantabulous.

3) Bridget Jones' Diary
Why?
This is one of my most favourite movies of all time and I just
cannot pick out any example of what is best about it - its just amazing in every way possible! Possible even better than the book (I know, blasphemous) Bridget it was one my favourite characters both on film and paper. heart.

Top 3 .......Internet Sites of the Week

I am off work today, lovely! I've been really off my blog as of late, just not interested, probably because I have been busy living rather than reporting about living. But I believe there can be a balance - I'm just still trying to figure out how to manage it.

Today's Top 3 is a lazy one - I didn't have to search my soul or weigh different options to decide what made the list and what didn't ... I just looked at my internet history and blam! Here are my Top 3 Internet Sites of the Week:
1) Jezebel
Why?
Well, my fellow blogette has been recommending this for a couple years now and though previously I would stop by just because, NOW it is a regular interwebulous destination for me - thoughtful, interesting, funny current events/ entertainment blogging! Also the comments under post are actually as good as the story - first evah!
have a read at: http://jezebel.com/

2) BBC Radio
Why?
I found that working at home can be lonely (though I still greatly prefer it to going out to work) and as such I often put on music so I'm not just left in silence with my work. Problem, even though I have loads of music - I've heard all of it before and sometimes there is a NEED for something different. I can only take so much of weekday CBC radio so I went online and found you can stream any BBC Radio station online! So much better than North American radio ... by far - I haven't heard Pussycat Dolls or Nickelback once!

3) Goop
Why?
AHAHAHAHAHAHA - this site just makes me giggle. I don't like Gwyneth Paltrow, she is the quintessential 'Holier than thou' famous person. I strongly believe she started this newsletter because she felt it was her purpose to educate and culture the lay people of the world ... and with hilarious results. My favourite thing so far? The motto of the site: "Nourish the Inner Aspect". Okay, here's a suggestion Mrs. Martin ... nourish your own 'inner aspect' and leave the rest of us alone. I also don't like how she listed Keep the Car Running by The Arcade Fire as one of her top 10 party jams ... not only is it one of my least favourite AF songs, but it ain't no party jam.

Top 3 ... Children's Shows I Wish Were Still on the Air

Remember your childhood - that foggy jumble of events all lumped together under the categories: Goodtimes, Badtimes, Embarrassing Times, and Times we won't ever bring up again (aka me getting hit in the back of the head with the ball during a soccer baseball tournament, and falling facedown in the baseball diamond sand - yeah)

Well Childhood Memories have one more thing up their sleeves - TV shows. I have watched a heck of a lot of TV shows, I believe this will be one of the few constants in my life. Some shows remain on the air while other perish and remain only in the memories of the children that loved them. This fact gave me the inspiration for today's Top 3 List: Children's Show I Wish Were Still on the Air

1) Under the Umbrella Tree
Why?
Izzy, Jacob, and Gloria - who would not want to be their friends. I remember wishing and praying that one day I could be as cool as Holly. And I had no idea that the house in the intro was not real. ..

2) The Smoggies:
Why?
This show is why i've always been so gung-ho about saving the environment one recyclable bottle at a time!

3) Today's Special
Why?
A Mannequin that comes to life at night and learns about the world through the teachings of deparment store associate ... um genius! I also longed to live in a doll house like Muffy ... maybe that dream will someday come true.

Because I watched so much TV it was very difficult to choose only three shows I wish were still on - here are the inevitable honourable mentions:

- Polka Dot Door - they split Humpty Dumpty into two separate enteties! This show could be the cause of my obsession with have a specific spot for things - at the end of each show they placed the stuffed animals in their proper position inside the house chest...

- The Elephant Show - I am convinced that this is the reason I love elephants so much - I actually jsut came to that realization now ... wow

- GhostWriter - I never really understood what Ghost Writer was but I knew that I loved it. Inner city kids solving mysteries with the help of poor animated graphics spelling out words in the air - LOVE IT.

Top 3 ... Crayola Crayon Colours

note:I love how the title of this post contains an unintentional alliteration!

Today's Top 3: Favourite Crayola Crayon Colour Names!
Sigh and recall the blessed few years of your childhood via crayons ...

1)Peach
Why?
Because it is one of the most politically correct crayon colours (replaced: Flesh), along with Chestnut (formerly Indian Red).

2) Canary
Why?
Canary is one of those words that automatically brightens my day just by its association with yellow.

3) Banana Mania
Why?
Is it just me or does Crayola seem to have an uncanny ability to make your tummy go, "I'm HUNGARY - yes like the country" <-- my tummy gets confused easily ...

honourable mention: Electric Lime this colour inevitably makes me think of the song Electric Avenue by Eddy Grant. Yeah don't bother giving me the side-eye, you Love it.

Well who doesn't like a lovely spring day with the sun shining all about the place?

Top 3 ... Favourite Board Games

Topsy-Turvy Top Three Time Tout le Monde!

Today's Top 3: Favourite Board Games

1) Candyland!
Why?
Because I say so that's why - any game that can take me through the lands of Princess Loly, King Kandy, and make Molasses scary (Gloppy lives in my nightmareland) in one trip 'round is gonna be legendary in my books.

2) The Game of Life
Why?
Because being little miss Practicality, I ALWAYS put in my time getting a Post Secondary education at the start and now with the new version - shiz like that actually matters! In the old version you could begin your adventure right out of highschool and become a doctor on your next spin! Not Anymore! This game is amazing in every way. You MUST get a proper job, you MUST buy a house (Tudour what up!) You MUST get married to the opposite sex, and you almost always MUST produce children. Then you wade your way through your home getting flooded (DAMN I FORGOT TO PURCHASE INSURANCE AGAIN!) and useless Family vacays until you make it to the promise land - 1 of 2 retirement homes - AHAHAH jokes on you - you can't afford the nice one after all that. Man I love this game.
3) Mall Madness
Why?!
Um ... best. game. ever. besides the inevitable fight for the best looking (read: most legit looking) credit card on the outset, this game is flawless. you run around the mall chasing after all the items on your list, gleefully swiping your credit card without repercussion, just like life - ahaha gotcha! And when the mall announcer chick randomly interrupts with the locations of the next sales and clearances - HOLD ON TO YOUR HAT cuz you're in for a ride.

Honourable mention: Don't Wake Daddy. Never actually played the game but my god the theme song from the commercial is still rattling around in my brain all these years after it aired regularly ... check it if you must.

Top Three ...

I've decided to start a new recurring post theme. This way, when I run out of proper post ideas (like today) but still feel I need to update out of blogourtesy, I easily can!

Today's Top 3: Favourite things to buy from the grocery store

1) Chips n' Dip (sold separately obviously):
Why?
Because these are a party food that indicates that I am probably going to have a good time before, during or after eating them. That or it's going to be a saaaad Friday night in front of the T.V. waiting for my COR shift to start ... again.

2) Grapefruit
Why?
Because I get to feel nutritionally superior the shoppers I pass later in the pop and candy isle. "Why yes I DO enjoy eating this healthy and delicious sphere that is a ruby grapefruit, don't You?" (It's all a little Angelina Jolie-ish really if by 'eating' I meant "adopting"and by grapefruit I meant "child from a third world country")

3) McCain's Deep n Delicious Cake
Why?
Because it's deep, delicious, and it's cake ... need I say more? ... here is a picture of me last year when I decided to buy a Deep and Delicious cake... mmmmmmm

Hey does anyone remember the commercials where they were harkening back to Marie Antoinette and it was all fancy dress and cake eating ... Click Here to reminisce

on that note of reminiscence (is this a word?)... take a look at this clip from the fantastic gameshow Supermarket sweep - I feel like I watched way too much tv as a child because I know ALL these random shows that peers are like "whuh?" but I guess i just watched many shows in small doses which is probably not so bad. Anyway - thought this was appropriate considering the topic of this post so enjoy, or don't, I don't care much really. Happy Weekend All!
