I am supposed to be writing two separate papers for two English seminars at the moment - but that's proved to be no fun at all and instead I have come to my blog to gush about Gaga. I finally got to see the Lady in concert in Toronto on Saturday and am thrilled to report that she lived up and even in some cases surpassed my high expectations. There were so many wonderful things about her show that it is impossible to pick only a few to talk about. Her outfits were fabulous, her voice was truly powerful and her mastery of the Piano whilst standing and slapping her ass had me with my jaw on the floor. So my favourite Gaga song has always been Paparazzi and some fan in Ottawa took some amazing videos that give you a good idea of the show and the stage and so I thought I'd show you my favourite parts of the show with them:

Yikes, It's been a while since a proper post, no? I can explain: I have been so super busy this past week and a bit. I had planned to post last Friday, then I had lots of work come up. So I decided to post on the weekend - but c'mon! The weather had been gross all week and finally this weekend it was absolutely beautiful so I couldn't justify sitting in front of my computer for any length of time. So now it is Monday again and let me just run down what's been happening in my corner of the world for the last little while.
Last weekend my mum and stepdad + my dogs came to visit for almost a week so when I wasn't working I was visiting and driving between Oakville and Bolton (Dorcas, I have seen the edge of York Region and it is FARMLAND!). I got a chance to revisit the McMichael Art Gallery and view the magnificent work of Yousuf Karsh, in particular his highly controversial (at the time) photo of Gow Crapper .... Monday I got to register for courses for my last year of school - for the first time ever just about all my first choice classes were available for me! Shockahhh! Tuesday I took my final driving test and PASSED! again Shocks all around (especially since I started the test by first hitting the curb, then forgetting to put the car in park while doing a parallel park in the bus that I drive). Okay, it's not actually a bus but it is a Volvo wagon so it's practically the same thing, right?! It's like as ginormous as an SUV but without the height and therefore visual advantage. This is the most exciting thing for me to achieve in years. I am the biggest worrier ever and for the past 2 years when I'm not thinking of something immediate by brain falls back on: OMGOMG I have to get my G before December 2009!!!! *Sigh of Relief*
Tuesday night I went for coffee with my girlies at Williams but received absolutely horrible service so I emailed a complaint which was responded to with a $25.00 gift certificate ... um hells ya! I will say that their Customer Service higher up is amazing compared to their restaurant service.
Friday I enjoyed a bbq with neighbours and then spent all weekend working a little and reading in the sun a lot!
This past week has also been great because I have discovered and rediscovered loads of great music! I have been in dire need of new music and something different than my usual fare. I am talking opposite end of the musical spectrum for me ... like DANCE music.
I've been listening to everything from Deadmau5 to London Beat - and I don't need any judgement thank you very much.
Recently I discovered (for myself, they've obviously been around a little while) this jem of a band Passion Pit and I loves them sooooo much. I am so glad there is still half a summer to enjoy this music as it is defo a summer jam...
My Dad sent this to me via email a couple days ago and it's still making me giggle. I was definitely enthralled with Riverdance and Lord of the Dance when it was popular (when was that? mid 90s?). I thought it was the coolest thing ... still do a little. Anyway, this is a brilliant comedic act, if anything, from this season's BGT (Um why was there not as big hoopla worldwide for these guys as there was for Ms. Susan Boyle?!) This Father-son duo clearly had the most fun of all constestants. Now that the show is over and SuBo hysteria has calmed down I think I can safely say ... I didn't really like her much - I didn't hate her, she just didn't charm me like she did the rest of the civilized world I suppose.

Well let me tell you a story that may help to answer that question ... (okay when I type question I sometimes pronounce it in my head: Kes-tee-ON - please help me)
Anywho, On with the story!
While searching for a picture for my last post (finally I opted to use just the ones I had taken of Ivana attacking me with a plunger and then throwing me the death glare) I came across an unusual blog written by a Mr. Craig Nelson, no not the one who got his hand stuck in a desk in my grade 4 art class and who also happens to reside in a house at the end of my street, but a 40 year old man living in Calgary. I was perplexed as to the purpose of the site at first - what was all this about Billboards and Kimberly? so I did some interweb digging and found THIS article from the Calgary Herald. Craig's, or Forever Groom's (FG) ex had entered a radio contest/social experiment that would see her marry a man she would first meet on her wedding day - Yikes! FG would not let this fly and launched an online campaign to win her back - aww how sweet/odd. Obviously they eventally ended up together which explains the his and her billboards Forever Groom is so pleased with. What a strange and maybe even delightful sort of love story ...
So I think that when these to get married they must for sure get a photo of them like the one above - the crazy-eyed groom chasing after his bride seems just about perfect for this couple's relationship.
Yay! Tomorrow is my birthday and in anticipation of this blessed and revered event my dad surprised me by taking me to pick out a bike! I have been thinking about getting a bike for quite some time now. I had resolved to wait, but it turned out to be such a wonderful present. I've already Christened it with a ride through the forest by my house and then messed up the seat flying through a hidden pothole in between two speedbumps in the Sheridan College parking lot. All is good and fixed now and I am so going to be a bikeaholic (new vocab continues - Goalatude #8) all summer (Getting outside - Goalatude #4). 
As for the rest of my weekend. Most of it has been spent entertaining my cousin Maddie (her birthday is today!) and sister Laura by giving them mani/pedis and teaching them about life and such...
Unlike myself, already working and getting ready to finish my first full week of summer 'vacay', my friend and fellow blogette, Ivana is still studying for two final exams (yeah UofT will do that to you). As I was complaining about how she's abandoned me in Oakville, and she about how tedious studying the French language can be - she came up with this solution: blog. "But what about?!" I asked. I'm not blogged out per se, I've just not been up to anything too interesting these past couple of days - just eat, work, sleep. I decided to think of a random topic and then wikiresearch it and write an informative post (FIRST EVER) on that topic. I typed 'Teacup' into my google toolbar just as Ivana msn-ed me back with the topic of her own next blog post - "china cups". This is when I started getting chills - we had been thinking about the same thing! IMAGINE WHAT THAT MEANS! It was like a Vulcan Mind Meld without the physical contact (unfortunately ;D). I've taken this incident, which will hearby be known as The Teacup Incident, very seriously. I've also decided that teacupping will now enter into my vocabulary as an interchangeable term for Vulcan mind-melding (Hey! I'm working on Goalatude #8 without even realizing it! well ... now I guess I've realized it). So, now I've blogged about Teacups without actually blogging about tea cups. God works in mysterious ways...
Last night I was bored out of my skull and looking to do anything other than work, so naturally I clicked open a new internet browser window and typed in "cute mammals". slowly but surely my search become more direct and defined, "cute puppies", "cute border terrier puppies" etc. somehow I ended up typing in "panda" and then eventually "red panda" and one of the results of the search was these pictures of the cutest little dog with a dyed man
e. I don't know why or how but it is sooo cute. Anyway I squeeled and Calvin, who was trying to study was like "What now?...." When he saw the pictures he said "looks like a... Firefox" which funnily enough is exactly what the dog was intended to look like - THe Mozilla Firefox logo.... So really the point of this post was to share these cutre pictures ... not because there is any great story to them ... I should probably go and read The Persians by Aeschylus now, as I've been intending to do for the past 1 1/2 hours. 
So this past weekend was basically a total write off in terms of getting any actual studying done. Friday was the last day of winter semester and obviously time to party. I went over to a friend's home played some 'card' games then stumbled around their darkened home tied to Angie (3-legged-race-style) using a flashlight to find easter eggs. I think our total find count was 2 ... I personally found 0 ... but i did get a wickedbad sliver. 
We then proceeded to march (read: stumble) towards Alfie's in the rain and waited to get in for long enough that my hair frizzed up and we lost one member of our party. all in all a good night. Saturday I spent sprawled on the couch until evening when Dorcas and I finally went out and saw I Love You, Man (kiani please forgive me). The movie was stellar (JOBIN!) and I couldn't stop laughing - would definitely recommend. 
Sunday I bummed around downtown and bought some nail polish and a pillow from Urban Outfitters (I'll admit I find the store super pretentious and totally self-conscious of their own trendiness - but I DO like their knick knacks and whatchamacallits). and finally last night Calvin, Dorcas, and I pretended to be really cool by celebrating the end of the semester with an Aztec Vanilla Cigar. I, of course had to be the man and take the first 'drag' (as Dorcas was appropriately calling it =D) and it was fun and games from there.
What I'm listening to: I love the 80s. i was born in the 80s, but I wish more than anything I was a teenager in the 80s - It was AWESOME! So when I heard the first two singles a little while back off of The Killers' new album Day and Age I was sooo excited. I'm not a huge Killers fan - I really did
n't like their first album, Sam's Town was decent, but I can already tell I am going to love Day and Age. Spaceman is my favourite song of the moment. I always watch the video when it comes on MMM and enjoy it a little more each time. Now I am as much a music snob as the next person and the Killers are defo mainstream to the max - but I also realize that life is too short to deny the joy that comes from a super catchy pop rock song from playing on my pod. And the Killers actually make some good music... so they can stay. Here is Spaceman by The Killers (click the picture) ... try not to roll your eyes and just enjoy!
Spring - a - ling. Clearly I am way too preoccupied with sunshine right now to do any work. I love it! In kingston it precipitates hardcore ALL school year long and then as soon as I'm gone it gets busy getting beautiful with sunshine and a warm breeze.... and tourists. Last summer, after moving from my old digs to a new apartment basically downtown and two blocks from the waterfront, Ivana and I made a trip up to Kingston to chill and act like tourists. We went shopping, visited the Penn museum and then Ivana tried to get in the Penn itself. We walked by the water, we went on the Haunted walk of kingston - it was legen .... wait for it ... dary. Anyway the sun just got me in the mood for Spring, Summer, whatever and I'm totally just using my blog to postpone work. (t a n g e n t a l e r t: WTF is my prof thinking giving us 3 assignments due on the last day of class! I'm supposed to just stay in and do homework all effing night while everyone else celebrates the end of the year!? Well I DON'T THINK SO - I am going out and there is no way you are going to stop ME! well...I promise to get my homework done first ... but THEN!!!! t a n g e n t o v e r)
